Pretty little town
Wanaka is nice and it has a nice vibe. I don’t believe there’s much to do around here but lot of hiking can be done as it is surrounded by mountains. A nice day trip
Stunning plsce
Lovely place.. So many beautiful areas to see. People are so friendly & welcoming. Can't wait to go back again.

Verrry windy, have to pay for the showers, not the best facilities, when we arrived, Someone had moved the campsite number we were in so we spent a while confused as to where we should be. We had 2 adults and a 2 and 3 year old, I think we paid $68 from memory for a powered site. Probably wouldn’t stay again.

If you've ever been to wanaka, go take a photo of the people taking photos of this tree. There's generally heaps of them all day every day. Someone snuck a road cone on it one night for lols, I appreciated that.

Wanaka is a less touristy place, bit quieter and more relaxed atmosphere but yes still worth a visit. You probably won't have to book a room as it's only an hour up the road from Queenstown via the Crown Range if you want a day trip. Or if you want to spend a day or two exploring the Wanaka region eg, parts of Mt Aspiring National Park then you might be best booking a room somewhere. There should be plenty of availability around that time as well. When in Queenstown get a Fergburger, when in Wanaka get a Red Star Burger :)

Spent a week in Wanaka with our two boys aged 8 & 12. Loads to see and do. Visited Arrowtown, a beautiful day trip. Cardrona Hotel was our highlight, delicious food and a super beer garden. Cromwell was another nice trip to get stone fruit. In Wanaka we enjoyed Puzzling World, Clip ‘n’ Climb at Basecamp, Archery at Cross Fire and the movies at Paradisio. Lots of nice family friendly places to eat. We enjoyed The Spice Room for Indian, The Cow for pizza and Cardrona Hotel fit the seafood platter. Definitely a great place to spend a week with a family.

The site has mountain bikes to rent, we had our own which meant we could bike the lake side walk to town, 7 km of view after view. You can also bike the other way down the river, also fun and a great walk too .
Quality site, good facilities. Big but not a holiday park, just friendly family place.
Would recommend to anyone

Great campsite. Very friendly staff. Toilets and showers dated but clean. Views amazing. Very large site so can be far from utility blocks. We were lucky.

What a great place to stay! Warm welcome, stunning views and
basic but superclean facilities. And free stargazing at night! Nice walk along the river Clutha to Albert Town (1h20). Highly recommended!

I found a cottage in Wanaka, 500m to the bay that looks amazing.
We will be doing a different trip every day, going to see all the local lakes, cities like Queenstown with bungee, gocarts etc.
