I've been with this bank for 2 years. Recently I tried to send some money to a friend in Thailand. NAB thought it was a scam and blocked my account, so I was forced to go in to the branch. While there I spoke to a teller, who changed my PIN and allowed me to speak to someone in their SCAM dep't. I thought everything had been sorted out, only to find two days later they still hadn't sent my money and the new PIN didn't work. Went back to the branch and spoke to the Mgr. she tried to ring the department but was put on hold for nearly an hour. She had to send my money from the branch because although the first transaction hadn't gone through, she told me I was charged for it and would be charged again if I tried to do it online. She told me my new PIN wasn't accepted because of an IT error and suggested I pick another one. I told her I wanted that one and she said she'd get the IT people to find out why it hadn't been accepted. That was 10 days ago..I received an email apology about the transfer, with no explanation, no solution to prevent it happening again and no details of any consequences to the staff who were VERY unhelpful and curt on the phone. Nothing has changed with NAB. They may have gotten rid of their CEO and Chairman, but it's business as usual when it comes to arrogance and lack of customer service.

Been with NAB for years. Spoke to a rep re a home loan- was up front about everything- we work for ourselves. She was positive- said go away and get me this, this and this. Hours of paperwork and expense with accountant. She kept chasing me for the figures which I thought was a good sign. 3 WEEKS later, she tells me she cant lend as we have ABNs. She knew this from day one.

Don't bother with this bank- all the bad stuff you hear about them is correct!!

Online transfer doesn't allow more than $20,000 so they force me to Goto bank (Only reason they are sending to bank is to make the money in the branch transfer and wasting everyone's time doing so) to do the transfer and bank charged me around $50 to do the transfer from Branch. And top of that I was charged branch transfer fees from my account that $50 should have covered for it. And they take 1 business day for a recent statement which is available immediately from other banks. Admin indirect allows unlimited amount of transfers without charging extra and all can be done online without going to bank.

In a nutshell, commissioner Hayne said it all

“Overall, my fear – that there may be a wide gap between the public face NAB seeks to show and what it does in practice – remains.”

100% true.

Unfortunately there is not a zero star option so I had to give them 1 star

They cannot even do basic transactions

Appalling service, left me up the creek during Christmas by bouncing my cheque. I had the funds but they lost the signature card, set up a new one and they lost that and bounced a second ch que

They didn't even call they just bounced my property cheque with appalling consequences

The call centre and branches don't give a hoot

And the ombudsman says ... 2 months

Meanwhile I don't have access to funds

Ombudsman clearly silenced and ineffective

Come on APRA do your job and revoke their licence

You let them get away with too much...do your job!

I have been with NAB for about 9 years since I was studying and all. For the first time ever I asked for a small personal loan and I am still waiting for it after 2 weeks. Called them many times over the last few days and provided all the documents. Even my salary is paid into my NAB account so they have all the things they need but they just don't process it no matter how many times I call and complain. Note that it may take half an hour or more to get to talk to someone. It just tells me they are very good at taking your money but not giving.

So, I will soon move to CommBank and close down my account for good. Never ever trust them to do anything for you. I have been with NAB for about 9 years since I was studying and all. Bad service. I am trying to send money overseas. Transfer limit is below the sent amount. I call them and they say their system is experiencing technical difficulty and for some reason they cannot update transfer limit. They said the fault is at their end and there is nothing they can do about... That sums it up. Go to another bank. NAB is not good at all.

A fairly modern bank, the bank of Australia was only formed in 1982 as National Commercial Banking Corporation of Australia Limited. The name was thereafter shortened to National Australia Bank Limited. It immediately started with expansion and managed to form relationships in Asia, the Middle East, and North America. The bank also had inroads into Europe. Expansion and acquisition continued well into the nineties.
