It sounds like you still saw a lot and had a good time! And you have lots to look forward to for your next trip! Thanks for letting me know how it went - I am so glad you enjoyed Komotini, I've been living here for 4 years and it's a really unique place, unlike anywhere else in Greece.
If by "other place" you mean Arogi as an alternative to Fanari beach, be advised that it's not any less busy as it is one huge beach that is divided by the estuary of the lagoon; Arogi is on the "other" side of the estuary, but it's basically one beach. However, if you go on a little ways through Arogi you come to another beach which is usually less crowded. It's called Paralia Mesis I think.
