The dogs are discarded in the streets and left to fend for themselves. They fight, chase vehicles, go hungry and are "disposed of when they get too numerous". These dogs are not spayed or neutered; the females have litter after litter. Many of these pregnant dogs only had a piece of cardboard to sleep on.
The filth from the dog feces and garbage is overwhelming; there is no effort to clean up.
Boycott this so called "advanced society" until they stop the cruelty.
I did not go to the islands, but Greece will never see another penny of my money until they get it together!!!
Write the Greek government to help these dogs, they need more people to speak for them and tourists are important to this country.

We stayed in Greece for 12 days in July 2008. First 4 days in Athens at the airotel parthenon, but we had the most fantasitic time with easycruise life.
This cruise was a gentle offer because the company cancelled one cruise we had booked in the netherlands the year before.
Easycruise has great customer service!!!
The ship is simple but nice, the room was very comfortable and the food was great to. Great breakfast.
In this cruise we could travel in the islands because in some towns we stayed almost 24H so we could catch some bus to pristine beaches. Lovely!!!

GO DURING SHOULDER SEASON July and August are Greece’s peak tourist months, but they are also when prices for hotels, tours and ferries are inflated. From April through mid-June and September through November, however, prices drop by as much as half. “You’ll avoid the crowds, and your money will go much further when you take a shoulder season vacation,” Mr. Stergiou said.

Greece should be on every traveller's wish list. Considered the birthplace of Western civilization, it has history at every turn – sun-bleached temples, statue-stuffed museums and time worn towns, where one day melts into the next. The miles of aquamarine coastline, endless skies and island studded seas, bathed in blistering light, are not only pleasing on the eye, but a magnet for anyone who appreciates the great outdoors. Then there’s the Greeks themselves, despite the recent ups and downs, they remain warm hearted and hospitable, rich in culture, welcoming you to their festivals and feasts; rest assured, the one constant in Greece, is that you will go home well fed!

For those who want to combine the boundless beauty of the country’s sun-bleached beaches, with a thriving culture and a rich, historic backdrop you’ll enjoy travelling here. On your Greek holiday, you can find yourself stepping between worlds, shopping in high-end shopping malls one moment and raking through the handcrafted treasures and haggling for a bargain at bustling, atmospheric markets the next.

Dine in style at modern, fine-dining restaurants or eat like the locals at a rustic, seaside taverna, serving fresh, simply-cooked fish. Families can choose between the high-octane thrills offered by the country’s superb waterparks, or soak up some myth and legend and visit some of the many ruins that were once part of one of the greatest civilisations the world has ever seen.
For 21st Century holidaymakers, holidays to Greece offer the chance to enjoy modern amenities and explore ancient relics. With plenty to see and do for families and couples alike, you can make your Greek holidays exactly what you want them to be!

Greek islands are about endless beaches and ancient history. From Roman Empire to medieval knights. In terms of history and sightseeing, I would say Crete is one of the most fascinating because there are traces from Roman to Byzantine Empire to Venetian republic, mixed up with the Arab and Ottoman rule, along with medieval knights and more recent history (World War II). Beaches and greek hospitality are the same :-)

Holidays to Greece deliver fantastic beaches and centuries-old sights – not to mention some of the best nightlife in the Mediterranean.Pulling in more than 28 million tourists every year, Greece is one of the world’s most popular holiday spots. And it’s not hard to see why. Spotless sands, centuries of history, and traditional sugar-cube towns are just the start of what the country has to offer.

We recently took the Insight Tour of Greece and the Peloponnese and had a wonderful time. If you are lucky enough to have Demetrius as a tour guide then you will have fun. I had never been to Greece before so did not know what to expect. We have done a lot of travelling and I can say, Greece is heaven on earth. Thanks Insight. You're the only way to travel. Hotels were first class, although the one near Olympia needed updating but the rest were great. Food was wonderful especially the added on dinners. Good value for the money

In 2007 I made a trip around Europe with my best friend, Rochi. We live in Uruguay, a small country in South America and were saving a whole year to made the trip.
We visited Rome, Florence, Venice, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Munich and Berlin. Those were the best days ever.
I do not know the reason but I fell in love with Greece. Not because of the beaches because in my country we have much better ones (better than Miami and Hawaii also from my experiences) but Greece really has something special.

After years and years of saving pennies and researching where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do, I finally put it all into action for 18 amazing days. The only complaint I had was there wasn't enough time in 18 days to do all that I wanted to do! Athens can easily be done and re-done in 3 days, and I would take a day to do nothing but sit in the plaka and talk to the various shop owners and eat the food. We even played cards for hours at one of the outside taverenas. Then we made our way by overnight ferry to Crete. If I ever get to go back, I'd spend my entire time on that island. It was wonderful! Our final two days were spent in Santorini, which was nice, beautiful, but boring. The only high light of Santorini was the day long boat trip in the caldera-that I could have done for eons!

Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:
This was a well planned, although somewhat busy trip, but we had planned it to be that way to see and experience as much of Greece and the islands as possible. This travel agency, specifically Hillary was very helpful and more than willing to personally speak with me to be sure the trip and our plans were consistent with our objectives and expectations. She provided very good detail and descriptions of the destinations, hotels and agenda.

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?
The variety of the islands we visited. The hotels we stayed at were fanatastic. The prearranged ground transportation from airports and ports to and from hotels. A wonderful individual guided walking tour of Athens with a fluent English speaking guide.
Our hotels on Mykonos, Santorini and Crete were exceptional. The Amirandes Hotel in Crete was a spectacular five star resort.

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?
If I planned a future trip I may consider a day or two private yacht or sailing vessel cruise to compliment the land portion.

Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:
Our travel agent did an outstanding job planning and supporting our wonderful four week trip to Greece. We were looking for a trip that went beyond the typical cookie-cutter, “visit the highlights” kind of trip. What she provided even went beyond the “off the beaten path away from other tourists” type of trip. What she did was provide an experience where we were able to engage with locals in meaningful ways.

We visited some of the Ancient sites, but we visited with local, trained archeologists who had a passion for the their country’s history and the discovery of Greece’s past. We didn’t just visit an olive oil manufacturer, but had dinner and spent the day with the owner of a olive oil company whose family has been making olive oil for over 100 years.

We were fortunate to visit greek islands that are not on the Cruise Ship itineraries. One of our favorite stays was on the beautiful island of Kytheria. This island is absolutely beautiful with beautiful beaches, quaint villages, waterfalls and great food. But, somehow it is not visited by very many Greeks let alone foreign tourists. This gave us an intimate view into local Greek island life and allowed us interact with some locals who are very proud of their home and were absolutely welcoming to us.

Our agent arranged for us to spend six days sailing on a small sailboat with a captain around the Ionian sea. To sail the same waters as Ulysses and experience life as people have for thousands of years will never be forgotten.

Beyond the superb planning, and personalized experiences, our travel agent's follow-up was extraordinary. She checked in every few days just to make sure all was going well and that we were happy. The overall experience was amazing from beginning to end.

Which Country (Countries) did you visit on this trip? Greece
Your overall comments on the trip and the travel company:
It is an absolute privilege to write a review for this travel agent and his company. Because of him, we had a trip of a lifetime in magical Greece! We could not have asked for a better experience and are so happy we chose this company to organize this trip for us.

When I initially began thinking about this trip, I was not sure whether I wanted to do a large guided tour (like we had previously done in Europe) or try to do it all on our own. I thought to myself, "I wish there was something in the middle!" I wanted to have our freedom to do what we wanted, but I did not want the stress of having to plan everything myself. My beginning stages of research led me to Zicasso Tours, which quickly put me into contact with this company. I soon found out that they were exactly who I was looking for--a company who would do all the planning for us and all we had to do was show up!

The customer service we received from our agent was second to none. As soon as we told him our interests--food, wine, history, romance--he immediately put together an incredible itinerary for us. All we needed to do was approve it, and he took care of booking EVERYTHING for us--the hotels, the transfers, the island to island transportation, and our chosen excursions. He also was kind enough to give us information on each location, offering suggestions on important locations to visit, restaurants and other possible excursions. This was a HUGE help, since they don't have Yelp in Greece. :)

My husband and I could not have been more impressed with each of our agent's choices. The hotels he chose were boutique hotels, which made each of them incredibly special in their own right--luxurious, artistic, charming, and AMAZING customer service. They were like pieces of art and reflected each island's culture and personality. He organized a PRIVATE tour of the Acropolis and a PRIVATE walking food tour in Athens, which was both educational and delicious! How nice not to have been with a huge group for these important experiences! We also went on a semi-private (no more than 10 people) wine tour and sunset cruise in Santorini. Both were first rate experiences. Even the ferry transportation was first class...literally! Our agent made us feel like VIPs with each and every one of his choices, and we truly could not have been happier.

I am officially in love with Greece (thanks to this agent and his company) and know we will be back!

What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?
Everything! See above. :)

If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?
Nothing!

Spectacular Greece
I had the pleasure to journey to Greece with smarTours in May. I just wanted to complement you on the quality of the tour and especially the tour guides. Three in particular: Granville Lee-Warner, Matina Chountala, and Thalia Zervaki were memorable for their charm, knowledge, and professionalism at every step of the tour. They created for a me a lasting experience that I will not forget.

This is my second family trip with (Kids Love Greece) KLG and we plan to use their services again when we return to Greece. It was easy to communicate and this trip Maria was able to help us maneuver the different aspects of traveling in offseason in November, during Greek Holidays and cruise ship tour days. She also helped us decide on different activities based on our children's ages and interests. One example is making time between a long tour for our family to get a quick lunch. Akrivi and Foetini were excellent choices as guides in Chania and Heraklion. Akrivi spoke to my daughter at her level and kept her interest up during the tour. My son enjoyed using the 3D device to help see what the different sites we toured looked like back in antiquity. My son especially loved the bull leaping simulation. My family thoroughly enjoyed the trip and we once again thank Maria and KLG for helping us plan our annual trip!
